When the battery is overcharged, flammable gas may be produced, and sparks may cause this gas to explode.
In applications that require multiple batteries, first establish a proper interconnection between the batteries, and then connect the battery string to the charger or load. Note that the positive terminal of the battery is connected to the positive terminal of the charger or load.
